Elise Meredith Beattie is a resident of Kentucky. Her unique style involves working with a mix of water media on paper and canvas. The artist is best known for her fearless paintings and inspirational techniques, which are the hallmarks of her water media creations.
Beattie’s art is influenced by the artist’s imagination, emotions and love of photography. But, these photographs are a mere jumping off point for the inspirational techniques used to create the artist’s visual story.
Beattie begins her pattern driven paintings with an adventurous pouring process. Pouring paint allows the artist the ultimate freedom. The numerous poured washes create cloaks of intensifying value and mystery; thus continuously redirecting Beattie’s interpretation of reality. Using mixes of watercolors, acrylics and collage Elise creates a pattern driven image that combines a contemporary composition with a vivid imagination.
Elise Beattie’s art is exhibited annually in many national and international art shows including the prestigious Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors; American Signature Exhibition at the Fallbrook Arts Center, CA and The International Exhibition of Experimental Artists – a traveling exhibit that included being displayed in Sanibel, FL, San Pedro, CA. and in the country of Wales. In 2014 her solo exhibit was hosted by the North Tahoe Arts Center in Tahoe, California. Beattie has also been the recipient of a Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller Foundation Grant for a solo exhibit called Short Stories from the road less travelled in New York City. The artist’s work has been honored with numerous awards including The Elizabeth Erlanger Memorial Award through the National Association of Women Artists and the Montana Watercolor Society’s Presidents Award.
Elise is a juried signature member of the National Association of Women Artists, the International Society of Acrylic Painters as well as the Northwest Watercolor Society and the state watercolor societies of Florida, Montana & North Carolina. Beattie’s paintings have won inclusion into several books including Splash 13 – Alternate Approaches & Incite Best of Mixed Media – Dreams Realized & Acrylic Works 2 – Radical Breakthroughs published by F& W Media and Best of America – Water Media Art-vol.1 published by the Kennedy Publishing Company. The artist is also listed in Who’s Who in American Art & Who’s Who in America.
Beattie is frequently invited to jury exhibits and teaches water media art classes. The artist is well known for her 'Fearless Painting' workshops, which have been sponsored by art organizations & community colleges like the North Tahoe Arts Center, Whatcom Community College as well as the Kentucky and assorted other national watercolor societies and art centers.
